Anybody but cleveland
The 2015 Boston Celtics have made the playoffs, which is great for a team nobody really expected that much out of at the beginning of the NBA season. Having so much turnover throughout the season didn't help matters much, especially when trading away two of their best players in Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green who started for the team at the beginning of the season, as they were thought the be the core of a young basketball team. Their eventual trades along with the trades of many other players who had a short stint with the team and basically just came and went made them go from low expectations to no expectations, and only made them a worse team in many people eyes and one that was definitely destined for the lottery, but not so fast, Due to Danny Ainge's effective wheeling and dealing the biggest of his acquisitions coming when landing point guard Isiah Thomas Jr., the Celtics have really surprised a lot of people in not only reaching the playoffs but in playing some of the best basketball out of any team coming down the stretch run of the season.
The big problem however is their first round opponent in the Lebron James led Cleveland cavaliers. A team in many people's mind that are destined to make it all the way to the NBA finals this year. Making the cavaliers a really difficult first round foe for the Boston Celtics to not only have to contend with but to also vanquish as well. We should all commend the Celtics (unless you absolutely hate them) for the amount of growth, hard work and effort that the players and the coaching staff have put into the season and for getting this far so quickly. This series however just has a melancholy feel to it, in which if you're a celtics fan you want them to win and your happy that they're actually in the playoffs but you just have a feeling that this surprisingly feel good season that has felt like a magical carpet ride that they've been able to produce is about to come to an expected end.
The Celtics know they're facing an uphill climb facing an offensive powerhouse like the cavaliers who have three of the best players in the series, and while they will fight and maybe even win a couple games, it is truly hard for any basketball fan or any Celtics fan for that matter being able to see them conquer and eliminate the highly touted Cleveland Cavaliers in this first round match up.
It has to be mentioned however that while they may not win they due have a core of good young players and a system of sharing the basketball that will help them throughout the series that I feel with make them a pesky out. In the end however I just feel like the Cavs just might be too much for this resilliant Celtics team. I also feel that their chances of getting out of the first round would of been even greater had they matched up against the Atlanta Hawks a team that plays a similar style to the Celtics and a team that the Celtics have faired very well against in their head to head matchups. No matter how long the stay in the playoffs for this celtics is a couple things are definate this Celtics team should be very proud of how the season they've had and the character they've shown. As for the future of this team it's looking pretty bright, and basketball in Boston is now fun once again, and that's all you can ask for out of a still developing and maturing basketball team.
